All-In-One Solution To Combat Ad-Blocking
While working on a way to deal with ad blockers (nearly 1/4 of my traffic according to blockertools.com) it occurred to me that ezoic is in a perfect position to offer an all-in-one solution to its site owners.
Ezoic could detect ad blockers and then take the action as prescribed by the site owner when an ad-blocker is detected. This could mean hiding no, some, or all content based on a site owner's settings (via element id's), and replacing the missing content with:
A message informing the visitor what they are supporting (extortion) and who they are hurting.
A request to whitelist the site and refresh the page.
A subscription form for subscribing to the ad-free version.
For those who won't whitelist the site but would still like an ad-free experience, ezoic could handle the payment processing and the delivery of paid ad-free pages. The subscription pricing could be based on a site's RPM (or some other metric), with Ezoic taking a cut for the processing and some profit.
In my opinion this would be a win, win, win solution.
Ezoic could make money from both ad-blockers and non-ad-blockers.
Site owners would get paid for ad-free pages without having to create separate websites.
Site visitors can choose to pay for an ad-free experience for content they feel is valuable.
We, the site owners, approved what we want to show our visitors, yet a third party (ad-blocking add-on) has stepped in and removed that approved content without our permission. How is that not a criminal act? What would happen if you or I walked down the mall aisles and removed all of the window ads and displays from all of the stores? Or we intercepted all newspapers and magazines and removed the ads before delivering them to subscribers?
Bottom line, I'm going to take action against ad-blockers with or without an all-in-one ezoic solution, it will just take a lot longer to set up.

I say just leave them be, the more you try to combat ad blockers, the more you annoy the hell out of them. Bad user experience translates to less visitors, which in turns hurt you more, what with the time invested to combat ad blocker and all.
